Clemson lost a wonderful member of its extended family in late 2023 when Thomas Aaron Martin, Class of 1993 (Ceramic Engineering), died unexpectedly.
We honor and remember Aaron through the way we design our tours.
He was, in the truest sense, a Renaissance man - a term often overused, but in his case entirely deserved. Aaron had a rare ability not only to visualize complex systems, but to identify where they might fail—whether in ceramics, glass, optical materials, his handmade chain mail, or later in his career, cybersecurity. He approached the world with both precision and imagination.
Beyond his professional gifts, Aaron was a baritone singer and a cellist. He read widely—history, science fiction, poetry, and mythology—and loved manga and anime. He was part of the Clemson fencing team and brought curiosity and humor into every space he entered.
Aaron would often accompany Terry in his free time to explore whether sites were truly “tour worthy” and, just as importantly, to taste and critique the local hard cider.

We carry Aaron’s spirit forward by creating tours with depth, texture, and thoughtfulness - experiences that reward curiosity and invite people to see more than what is immediately visible.
At a future date, we will announce a charitable initiative in Aaron’s name.
